Yes, many students in the B.A.A.S. program work full-time or part-time while attending UNT. However, remember the need to balance school with work and your personal life when determining how many courses to take each semester. Students can expect 15 hours of study time per class per week. ‎

You may take core classes at an accredited community college, another accredited college or university, or at UNT. Core courses taken at a community college or another Texas university may be transferred to UNT. Sometimes it is advisable to take an upper division core course (those numbered 3000 or higher) from UNT. Doing so may maximize the number of credits you are able to transfer from a community college. Your UNT advisor will help you decide what makes the most sense for you. You should always consult with your UNT advisor before taking classes at the community college. ‎

No, the Professional Foundations courses are required upper division courses that can only be completed at UNT.‎

The time it takes to complete a B.A.A.S. degree depends on how many hours you need to satisfy the degree requirements, the number of hours you take each semester, and your academic performance. Typically, students take between 6 and 12 hours each semester and complete their degree within 2 to 3 years. Some students take longer, while others finish faster. If a student is receiving financial aid, full-time is considered 12 hours, or two classes each 8 weeks and part-time is considered 6 hours or one class each 8 weeks. ‎

You are required to take at least 30 hours of coursework from UNT to meet the university residency hour requirement. You are also required to complete 36 hours of upper division coursework. Of those 36 hours, at least 24 hours must be from courses taken at UNT.‎

Upper division courses are typically offered at four-year colleges and universities in students’ junior and senior years. Upper division courses are numbered 3000 and 4000 at UNT. Upper-division courses are also called advanced level courses.‎

You can begin taking classes once you've been admitted to UNT, have met with a UNT academic advisor, and have completed the B.A.A.S. online orientation course. The B.A.A.S. program has two cohorts per year; one that begins in August and one that begins in January. Though there is no summer admission, once students are in the program they can take summer courses. ‎

After you register for your courses, you can find required textbooks and even order them online at the UNT Bookstore. You can also check with other local bookstores and online retailers. Prices will vary by site and the types of books required. UNT Faculty work hard to provide the most cost effective class resources, many of which are free to students. ‎

A concentration is a set of four courses that give students deeper knowledge into necessary career skills. Students typically graduate with 2-3 concentration areas, depending on the credit hours they transferred in. Students select concentrations that, along with their other B.A.A.S. coursework, prepare them for future career aspirations or educational objectives.‎

Your certificate will show that you have successfully completed the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences. It will also show that the awarding body is the University of North Texas. Your degree will not mention “online” nor Coursera.‎

You will receive an email from UNT asking you to login to your my.unt account. This account will be your hub for all things UNT - Financial Aid, Bill payment, Admissions decisions, and more.‎

UNT can accept U.S. Military credit as academic credit for the B.A.A.S. degree. Please send your:
